Welcome to Generated Atlas.

My name is Ian and for the past decade or so I’ve run Brilliant Maps, where I’ve shared some of the best maps I’ve found from around the web.

Over the past two years I’ve became fascinated with the world of AI.

But people on my existing Brilliant Maps social media accounts HATE IT when I post any AI generated content, even when it’s clear I find its mistake amusing.

So I’ve launched Generated Atlas as a stand alone site.

And just to be clear, at the time of launching Generated Atlas (January 2026), AI maps are far from what I’d call Brilliant.

But, AI is improving so quickly that in the very near future they may be.

So Generated Atlas is going to start life as a bit of an AI humour site, poking fun at how far AI maps are from prime time.

But I suspect over time, that focus may shift.

In either case, I think it’s a rather unique ways to document how AI is evolving.
